Principal - As advised in newsletter David Smith will not be taking up the appointment. The school was informed on the last day of school for 2002. A panel has been formed to produce an advert for the position, select and interview candidates. Advert will appear in Dept of Education Positions list this Wednesday. A final choice will be made by the panel in early March. Our school was upgraded to a P3 status last year (greater than 301 students).

Treasurer's Report
Written report circulated. Grahame Woods spoke to same.
It was resolved that the report, payments and receipts be accepted.
Moved by Kathy Dixon Seconded by Kim Meyer

Business Arising
¨ Computers in classrooms - Suzanne Burlase asked what the status of computers is in classrooms as last year some were not working. Mrs Jarvis replied that all classrooms have 1 good computer (such as Pentium III) and two older computers. All the computers are networked. The computer room has 17 good computers. Suzanne asked whether we could perhaps use some funds to upgrade computers. Advised that we are yet to prioritise spending for this year, but this would be considered.
¨ Voluntary Contributions - $100 per family. These contributions are mainly used for school resources. In this years budget $15,000.00 has been allocated for same, upon a budget request from the school. The percentage of contributions received last year was over 80%. It was asked whether these should be increased. Decision made that we would wait until the end of the year, in the meantime we will check how much we are able to increase them. It was thought that you could only increase them by a certain percentage each year.

Committee Reports
Bookclub
Stephanie Davison - $1,222.00 in 1st order. School gets bonus points (double for this first issue). There are 4 different brochures, covering the different age groups of children.

Canteen
Vicki Rollo - Canteen will be opening tomorrow. Will need to close on the last week of term due to lack of volunteers. The canteen has gold accreditation which means we serve 90% healthy food.

Clothing
Cathy Dixon - Clothing pool is open from 8.45am - 9.45am every Wednesday morning. A full stock of all clothing items is kept. More volunteers are needed, parents with small children are most welcome.

Fundraising & Social
Mandy Bransgrove - Fundraising will work differently this year with Years K-5 to each run a fundraising event in conjunction with a committee member. There will be a meeting at Mandy's house this Wednesday 12/2/03 to obtain fundraising ideas. Committee will still look after Mothers & Fathers Day stalls. Mandy wants to trial this, to see if we can get the whole school community to help with the fundraising instead of only the Fundraising committee.

Gardening
Robert Ramsay - Margaret & Robert Ramsay are the caretaker gardening convenors. Margaret & Robert have been the convenors for three years previously and would like for some new parents or a group of new parents to consider taking up this role. The first working bee for Year 1 will be held on 22/2/03. P&C would like to thank Margaret & Robert for mowing the lawns during the holidays and for organizing 18 families to water the plants (all the mulching done last year, seems to have helped as some plants survived). Whilst the drought is still on, Robert is reluctant to plant new gardens. Working bees will be more pruning and dead tree removal etc.

Safety House
Kim Meyer - Safety house has 30 houses which are audited annually. We also have a Yellow Day, where students learn about safety houses.

Acting Principal's Report
Mr Trevena - This is the 8th day of school. Current enrolments are 321 students, with six new in area students arriving on the first day of school.
Swimming Carnival was held last Monday. 14 records were broken by 3 different children. A good day was had by all, with only a little rain this year.

Athletics Carnival will be held on 31/7/03.
Annual School report should be received by parents very soon.

Slope on side of oval opposite toilet block - Proposal that we authorise spending of up to $2,000 to contain the dirt before we get some rain and it all slides down onto the path. Moved by Rosie Yalland and seconded by Kim Meyer. Will email Margaret Ramsay re quote already received.
